Haematologist & Immunologist
Dr. Augustine Nwakuche Duru graduated with the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Sciences, B.MLS (Hons), Second Class Honours Upper Division from the University of Nigeria in 1995. With a hunger for more, and a burning desire to become a medical practitioner, I got admitted to read Medicine and Surgery and successfully obtained the MB; BS degree of the University of Nigeria in 2005. After my Houseman-ship with the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, my first love with the Laboratory Sciences propelled me to go back to School and undertake my Residency Training Program in Pathology with sub-specialization in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. I was awarded fellow of the Medical College of Pathology (FMCPath, September 2016). I joined the services of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu as a Hospital Consultant in July, 2016. In my desire to add international exposure to my rising profile, I was at the City of Hope Cancer Center, Duarte, LA, California, USA in 2015 for his Fellowship in the prestigious International Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Foundation (iCMLf) Preceptorship Program.
I was appointed by the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria as a Lecturer I with the Department of Haematology & Immunology. I assumed duties as an ‘’Academic Staff’’ in the Department on 4th October, 2017.
Dr. Duru, is happily married with a lovely wife and five wonderful children. I am well known to be a very hard working man with a jovial and pleasant personality. My hobbies include listening to News, Reading, Swimming and Farming.
