The Department of Psychological Medicine, founded in 1973, is one of the departments under the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus. The primary aim is to train medical students in the art and science of Psychiatry and related disciplines, and in collaboration with other departments and nearby universities, to provide postgraduate training in psychology and psychiatry. It has continued to undertake activities in teaching, research and patient care within the limits of available resources.

There is continuing harmonious relationship with other departments in the College of Medicine and the larger university, and being a clinical discipline, with other departments in the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Ituku Ozalla near Enugu.
