Dr. Martin C. Ugonabo joined the services of the college of medicine, University of Nigeria, Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu in September 1999 as Lecturer 1 after completion of his residency training program in Laboratory Medicine (Chemical Pathology) at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku/Ozalla. He was promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer in October 2004 and in the same year the mantle of headship of the department of Chemical Pathology fell on his shoulders and this position he held until 2016.

He is married to Dr. (Mrs) Oby J. Ugonabo, a Senior Lecturer in the department of physics & Astronomy, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
