Uche had his basic medical training at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers state where he bagged MB.BS. He is a Physician/Dermatovenereologist with the Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria [FMCP] and is a senior lecturer/honorary consultant with the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus/University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu state.

He has been actively practicing dermatology and venereology, and teaches medical and postgraduate students. He has several published articles and a contributing author to three books. Uche is a postgraduate examiner in the faculty of Internal Medicine of National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, supervisor of postgraduate works and is a member of Nigerian Association of Dermatologists (NAD). He is currently the chairman of Association of South Eastern Nigeria Dermatologists (ASEND), a past president of Association of Resident Doctors, UNTH and National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD), and former National 2^nd Vice President of Nigerian Medical Association (NMA).

He is currently the Ag Head, Department of Dermatology.

Areas of research interest include Albinism, herpes simplex virus type 2 infections, keloids and psoriasis.
