Opening Statement. Hyginus Uzo Ezegwui is a Professor of Obstetrics Gynaecology, College of Medicine University of Nigeria Ituku Ozalla Campus and Honorary Consultant Obstetrician Gynaecologist, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Ituku-Ozalla Enugu. He has worked extensively as a researcher and trainer spanning over 18 years. His special interest is in Reproductive Health/family planning.
He has worked as a consultant to Society For Family Health, Pathfinder international, Paths 2, IPAS Nigeria and Marie Stones International on reproductive health.
Professor Ezegwui is a seasoned administrator, researcher and a prolific writer and has published several papers in peer reviewed journals internationally and nationally. He has also written many project proposal and technical reports.
He joined the Services University of Nigeria in 2005 as a senior lecturer and by 2010 he rose to the rank of a Professor.
He is widely travelled and has attended FIGO conferences in Cape Town, Rome and Canada where he presented papers.
He is energetic , focused and capable of independent work. Prof Ezegwui has a pleasant personality and a good sense of humour. He relates well with students and colleagues . He is a Christian. He belongs to the Scripture union Nigeria where he rose to be the regional Secretary .
He is honest and trustworthy. He served as a Dean of the prestigious medical school 2015/2016 and 2016/2018 session.
He is the current Dean of the medical sciences and delivered the 124th Inaugural lecture of the university of Nigeria.
