Ifeoma Ezegwui is a Professor of Ophthalmology,  an honorary consultant paediatric ophthalmologist and the 137^th inaugural lecturer of the university.  She has been a researcher and trainer with a core focus in paediatric ophthalmology

Prof Ezegwui joined the services of University of Nigeria as a senior lecturer in 2009 and was promoted to the rank of professor in 2014. She has been the Head, Department of Ophthalmology from 2017/2018 academic session till date.  In 2016, she underwent one-year fellowship training in Paediatric Ophthalmology at Aravind Eye Hospital, Tirunelveli, India sponsored by the Commonwealth Eye Health Consortium, administrators of the Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.
