Brief Biography:                     Professor Benjamin Chukwuma Ozumba is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology with versatile senior administrative experience, having held various positions as Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, Provost of the College of Medicine and Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria.

 

He has expertise in Medical Practice and Research.  He facilitated the NUC Accreditation of the first Faculty of Dentistry in Eastern Nigeria and led the College of Medicine in achieving the highest National NUC Accreditation score in 2008.  He revised the curriculum of the Faculty of Medical Sciences after 22 years and placed it in tandem with modern world-wide curriculum development.

 

He has over 65 academic publications to his credit, with three chapters in textbooks and other Technical Reports.  He was a Research Fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.  He is a member of the African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer.  Member of American Association for Advancement of Sciences and Member of the International Gynaecological Cancer Society.

 

He was the most Deserving Lecturer in the College of Medicine, University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1997 and among Who Is Who in Medicine in 2000.

 

He is an Examiner to the Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, and External Examiner to many Nigerian Universities.  He is happily married to Mrs. Chinelo Ozumba with children.

  • Conducting 4th MBBS Professional Examinations as well as Supervising it
  • Performing Specialized Surgical Operations in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • External Examiner to various Nigerian Universities and Postgraduate/West African Medical College Professional Examinations.
  • In-charge of Department, Faculty, College and University administrative functions during his period of tenure.
